It’s been a long time since I have wrote about my trips but junior year of high school started and I have a ton of work to do…
I wanted to share with you all the pictures I took from my school trip to the Storm King Art CenterΒ in New York. My PAVE art class and I visited this place where there were many installations and sculptures throughout a big plot of land. Everything was spaced out and there was the feeling of freedom. My friend and I at first started running from one installation to the other because it was so fun and freeing. The place was absolutely beautiful. I really loved it there and it was mostly because of the environment rather than the installations. The weather was just right and it was sunny so there couldn’t have been a better day to go on this trip!
The artists my art teacher told us to focus on was a Kenyan Visual Artist called Wangechi Mutu. Her works were primarily paintings sculptures and films. Through this media she creates powerful human, plant and animal figures. All of her sculptures were captivating and everyone loved them!
This trip was amazing and I would love to go back and walk around the installations and admire them one more time!
